Baseball, we missed you.
With only four games yesterday, the short slate presented daily fantasy baseball players with a bit of a quandary. On one hand, such a limited player pool makes for a lot of roster overlay, and therefore your random shortstop may decide your teams fate for the day. On the other hand, daily fantasy baseball is just too much fun to resist from playing. Thankfully we have a full 15 games in play today, so no such issues exist today. Let’s get to the breakdown.

Today’s Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks
Jonathan Lucroy – He’s homered in two of his last three games. 6-17 with two bombs vs Edwin Jackson in his career.
Jason Castro – Castro is best at home vs a righty.
David Ortiz – Big Papi has multiple hits in five of his last seven games.
Matt Adams – Adams is a cheap source of power and should DH today.
Jason Kipnis – Jason has at least one hit in 16 of his last 17 games.
Chase Utley – Chase homered last night and is 14-31 vs Jason Marquis in his career.
Evan Longoria – He’s hitting .350 with a 1.040 om-base plus slugging percentage vs lefties this year.
Alberto Callespo – Alberto is very cheap and is 13-26 recently.
Jean Segura – Jean is 10-25 in his last seven games.
Sean Rodriguez – Sean is a salary saver that hits lefties well.
Yasiel Puig – 13-23 with three homers vs lefties this year.
Jacoby Ellsbury – 12-30 recently and he gets to face a below average righty today.
Torii Hunter – 9-25 of late and he has a career .917 on-base plus slugging percentage vs C.J. Wilson.
Jose Fernandez – Jose has given up a total of five earned runs in his last four appearances.
Chris Sale – Chris has a 2.13 home earned run average.
Gio Gonzalez and Yu Darvish are other top dollar pitchers worth considering. Ervin Santana makes for an interesting play in a large field tournament. Matt Moore is your “do you feel lucky” pitcher of the day. Tommy Malone, Zack Wheeler, Hiroki Kuroda, Kyle Lohse, Jeff Locke, and Jason Marquis are all decent value plays for the right price. Hitting – Today looks like a good day to punt a position or two, to fit in the top players elsewhere. Catcher, shortstop, and second base are all positions to save salary. Not unlike most days, I like the Red Sox, Angels, Tigers, and Cardinals as the teams most likely to light up the scoreboard. More hitters to consider – J.P. Arencibia, Mike Napoli, Todd Helton, Edwin Encarnacion, Matt Carpenter, Neil Walker, David Freese, Todd Frazier, Yunel Escobar, Carlos Beltran, Carlos Gonzalez, Mike Trout, Alfonso Soriano, Josh Hamilton, Giancarlo Stanton, Shane Victorino.
