Today’s Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks
Fantasy Baseball Pitcher
Clay Buchholz: Buchholz looks like he has once again found his form from 2010. He was great all spring, and his first two starts of the regular season have been nothing short of incredible. He owns a 5-5 record in 14 career starts against the Rays, with very nice 2.76 ERA. The Rays have been struggling offensively so far, coming in at 27th in OPS going into today’s game. Buchholz is significantly cheaper on some sites than the other top pitchers, and that makes him an even better pick today. Don’t expect tons of strikeouts from him, but he should be great play again today.
Fantasy Baseball Catcher
Yadier Molina: Yadi is the best defensive catcher in the game, and his offense took a big step forward in last two seasons. He has a six game hitting streak going, going 8 for 24 during that span. He gets a great matchup against Milwaukee starter Marco Estrada today, and he has six hits with a homer in ten at bats against him. Although PvB data can be deceiving from time to time, this should be a very good game for Molina.
Fantasy Baseball Infielder
Albert Pujols: The Angels have gotten off to a bad start, but Pujols has been one of the bright spots early on. He is not known as a hot starter, but he is hitting 10 for 23 over the last seven games. Phillip Humber is set to start for Houston, and despite his solid performance in his first two starts, he is far from an ace. Pujols should take advantage of this juicy matchup, and score some solid fantasy points.
Fantasy Baseball Outfielder
Alex Rios: Rios had his first hitless game of the season last night, but that should not stop us from playing him again today. He is still hitting .372 on the year, and has one of the best matchups of the day. Brett Myers is starting for Cleveland, and has been nothing short of awful in first two games this season. He has given up seven runs in both starts this year, and currently has 12.17 ERA. Look for Rios to come out strong today and perform very well.
Last night almost all of our pitchers performed well. Unfortunately an injury cost our top pick, Johnny Cueto, to leave after just 13 outs. Sleeper Jose Fernandez delivered again with six shutout innings last night, and is off to a great start to his career. Lots of hitters (Buck, Davis, Kinsler, Harper…) didn’t play as good as expected, but our second base sleeper, Chris Getz, went 3-4 with a double and an RBI.
This is a classic Sunday with a full slate of day games, and the action will be wrap up with Sunday Night Baseball between the Orioles and the Yankees. The weather looks pretty good with the exception of rain in Minnesota, so make sure check that before the lineups lock.
