Did you get Puig’d too?
Sometimes daily fantasy baseball plays absolutely can’t miss….before the games start that is. Yusiel Puig looked the part yesterday with his three homers and overall 13-23 career record vs left handed pitchers. Sure, its a small sample size, but I, much like I assume many of you, could not resist such eye-popping numbers. And what does Puig do to reward his days backers? He promptly went 0-4 of course. Its a scenario like this, which leads me to believe that there is no such thing as a “sure-thing” or a “must-play” in daily fantasy baseball. That said, lets get to the breakdown.
*note that we will only be focusing on the night games starting at 7PM

Today’s Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks
Matt Wieters – Matt is a much better hitter vs lefties, and Scott Kazmir is nothing special.
Yadier Molina – Mashes lefties and is 4-8 with a homer vs Erik Bedard in his career.
Allen Craig – Yet another lefty crusher. He’s 4-9 with a bomb vs Erik Bedard.
Travis Hafner – The free-swinging “Pronk” aims to homer against the mediocre Justin Grimm.
Robinson Cano – Robinson hits righties very well. He hits bad righties even better.
Jason Kipnis – 9-14 with a homer in his last four games.
David Freese – David is a career .314 hitter vs left handed pitchers.
Juan Francisco – A very cheap boom or bust option with tons of power.
J.J. Hardy – J.J. has more power vs lefty pitchers and generally moves up in the batting order against them.
Starlin Castro – He’s scuffling and was actually benched yesterday. My hunch says it ignites him today.
Nick Markakis – Nick has crushed Scott Kazmir hitting 10-21 with a pair of homers in his career.
Brett Gardner – Expect Brett to fill up the box score with a mixed bag of hits, walks, runs, and stolen bases
Carlos Beltran – The one time Astro homered yesterday and I expect he’ll have additional success today.
Clayton Kershaw – No-brainer. Clayton has a ridiculous 1.28 earned run average in 134 career innings pitched vs SF.
Jordan Zimmerman – In three of his last four games, Jordan did not give up any earned runs.
Yovani Gallardo – He’s thrown three straight shutouts and owns the Cubs in his career.
Cole Hamels, Lance Lynn, and Mike Minor are also worth considering playing. Hitters – All Tigers and Angels are in play today. Other Hitters to Consider – Salvador Perez, A.J. Pierzynski, Billy Butler, Ian Desmond, Ryan Zimmerman, Jean Segura, Matt Holliday, Elvis Andrus, John Mayberry, Jimmy Rollins, David Wright, Adam Dunn, Alex Rios, Alejandro de Aza.
