It is Green Jacket Week here at DFR! The fantasy golf excitment is growing as we tackle the year’s first Major Tournament. We are pleased to announce a DraftStreet freeroll, exclusively for all Daily Fantasy Radio members and friends! DraftStreet is throwing a $300 GPP Freeroll our way, which definitely makes this the perfect week to get involved in fantasy golf.
This week, players arrive in Augusta, Georgia to tackle the Augusta National Course. Playing at 7,445 yards and a Par 72, this course is golf’s Mecca! With iconic holes like the Par 3 12th and the grouping of holes called Amen Corner, Augusta National can intimidate even the greatest golfers in the world. Last year’s winner, Bubba Watson, posted a -10 and forced Louis Oosthuizen into a playoff. After an errant shot into the woods, Bubba pulled off an air-bending shot to escape the hazard and take the Green Jacket initialed BW. He will be among the field along with other previous winners, and they should provide some great daily fantasy golf action.
Top Fantasy Golf Pick
Tiger Woods makes golf exciting! The fantasy golf world has missed his dramatic Sunday finishes in pursuit of Jack Nicholas’ majors record. With four wins at The Masters and three wins already in 2013, Tiger is primed to take down his 15th Major. Tiger knows that his time is getting shorter, and if he truly wants to be the best golfer of all time he needs to take down a Major each year. At DFR, we think that this is the year he gets another Major Win.
Phil Mickelson has 3 wins at Augusta and a plethora of top-15 finishes. This pick comes straight from the mouth of @golabattblue (because of his man crush on “Lefty”), but even though I won’t admit it to him, Phil does makes my top 3 this week. Phil has one win this year and has performed well over the course of the past couple of weeks. He is primed for a great showing at Augusta starting on Thursday.
Rory McIlroy put together a decent tourney last week at the Valero Texas Open, finishing in 2nd. His performance allows me to trust him a little more and allows him to round out my top 3 this week. McIlroy can play golf, and when he is at his best he rivals or is even better than Tiger. One of hist first times on this grand stage, he was winning but eventually faced a monumental collapse. He has made it known that one of his personal goals is to put together a great showing at the Masters. If affordable, Rory should definitely make your fantasy golf roster, especially if it is to hard to get Tiger in your lineup based on price.
