Today’s Five Guys
Top Daily Fantasy Basketball Pick: Dirk Nowitzki has looked like the Dirk of old in recent games, torching the Hawks and Kings in his past two outings. The going won’t get any tougher tonight against a pathetic Orlando squad that struggled mightily against the Bobcats at home yesterday. The Magic have a serious weakness defending opposing big men, and the Dirk’s unique skill set only further serves to complicate the Magic’s predicament. He’s priced nicely on most sites to boot. (DraftKings $6,400, FanDuel $7,100, FanThrowdown $6,900)
Ersan Ilyasova is hard to pass on this evening with the immediate rematch against the Nets in sight. He’s averaging 16 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals against them in three meetings this season. It helps that he’s priced well on most sites due to the up and down nature of his early season. (DraftKings $5,300, FanDuel $6,800, FanThrowdown $6,900)
Nikola Pekovic looks to be fully healthy for the first time in a while, and the all-star break likely provided the bruiser with all the rest he needs to abuse the Philly front court this evening. Spencer Hawes and Lavoy Allen have no chance of hanging with the physical Pekovic, and I’m expecting a 20 & 10 performance tonight. (DraftKings $6,500, FanDuel $6,900, FanThrowdown $7,400)
Goran Dragic looked spectacular yesterday, and the entire Suns team seemed to play with an enhanced urgency. He’s still priced dirt cheap most everywhere, and draws a matchup against a struggling Golden State team that has surrendered an average of 15 points, 3.5 rebounds, 7.5 assists, and 2.5 steals to him in two meetings this season. (DraftKings $5,300, FanDuel $5,800, FanThrowdown $6,400)
Shawn Marion is forever entrenched as a mid-range value play, and that’s just fine for those of us who know when to take advantage of his matchups. As was mentioned with Dirk above, the Magic have a severe deficiency in defending opposing front courts, and Marion feasts upon weak competition with his junkyard dog style play. He posted 20 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals against Orlando earlier this season. (DraftKings $6,100, FanDuel $6,600, FanThrowdown $6,400)
