Five Guys No Burgers And Fries – Daily Fantasy Basketball 2-8-13

Welcome to Five Guys No Burgers and Fries: Daily Fantasy Basketball!

In this article we’ll be examining daily fantasy basketball strategy by discussing five NBA players that have an excellent chance of performing well this evening. We’ll also recap how our top plays from yesterday performed from a daily fantasy basketball perspective.

Yesterday’s Five Guys

Ty Lawson had a solid outing and was slowed only by a 3rd quarter blowout.

Earl Clark had an off shooting night as the entire Lakers team was run out of the gym.

Kevin Garnett produced an extremely serviceable game and ended up being the second best interior option on the evening.

Nate Robinson started off hot, but the blowout ensured he sat the majority of the second half.

Taj Gibson was someone we advocated ONLY if Joakim Noah sat out again. Noah played and Taj saw most of his value zapped away subsequently.

Today’s Five Guys

Ricky Rubio has been on fire since having his minutes restriction lifted, combining for 24 points, 25 assists, and 4 steals in his past two games. Tonight he takes on a Knicks team at home that has had serious issues defending the point guard this season. (DraftKings $5,400, FanThrowdown $4,500, FanDuel $4,600)

I see you over there, putting me on your team.

Kyle Lowry has benefited more than anyone else on the Raptors since the departure of Jose Calderon. He’s been over 30 minutes in four straight games and, with Andrea Bargnani and Rudy Gay, now has legitimate options with which to rack up the assists. He’ll take on George Hill and a Pacers squad that has a weakness defending quick point guards. (DraftKings $5,300, FanThrowDown $7,100, FanDuel $6,100)

Jameer Nelson returned from his injury in a big way last game, leading the Magic in scoring while logging 38 minutes. Banged up or not, he’s had a day to rest and against a Cleveland team that surrenders huge games to opposing wings, he should have no problem hitting value on a team that lacks many other legitimate scoring threats. It helps that he had a poor performance before leaving with an injury last week, serving to drive his price down on most sites. (DraftKings $6,500, FanThrowdown$7,600, FanDuel $6,600)

Mareese Speights logged only 19 minutes last time out against Charlotte and still managed to finish barely under value. As long as tonight isn’t another blowout where the main rotation sits early, Speights should be a lock to hit value against an Orlando team that lacks interior presence. (DraftKings $5,000, FanThrowdown$4,400, FanDuel $4,500)

Nicolas Batum has been hampered by a lingering wrist injury, and his shooting has suffered greatly as a result. He’s now over a week removed from the initial incident, and faces off against a Houston squad that he’s absolutely decimated twice already this season.  His price has drifted down to a mid-range level on most sites, and he’s a prime risk/reward pick tonight. (DraftKings $5,800, FanThrowdown $8,100, FanDuel $6,900)
