Welcome to Five Guys No Burgers And Fries: Daily Fantasy Strategy.
In this article we’ll be examining daily fantasy strategy by discussing five players that have an excellent chance of performing well this evening.
Greg Monroe- Monroe has been maddeningly inconsistent at times this season, culminating in a (very) public questioning of head coach Lawrence Frank a month ago. All he’s done since then is rattle off a string of monster performances that are a reminder to all those who doubted his ability exactly why the Georgetown superstar was a high lottery pick. Tonight he’ll take on a Boston front court that has been conceding ridiculous lines to opposing bigs for some time now. Look for Monroe to take flight this evening.
Will Bynum- Bynum has been excellent in the past two months when playing a relief role for Rodney Stuckey and Brandon Knight, but with both healthy he’s been forced back into limited minutes. Last game may have signaled a changing of the guard, or at least the initiation of a timeshare as coach Lawrence Frank opted to go with Bynum over a struggling Knight in the second half; a move that certainly paid dividends. Bynum has been a consistent producer when handed extended playing time, and should he get the opportunity tonight he’ll easily exceed his value on every site. It’s the true definition of a risk/reward play.
O.J. Mayo- Mayo has been more a headache than anything this season for those who’ve drafted him in daily leagues, but with Dirk Nowitzki back to take some of the opposing defensive pressure off of him we may finally be seeing Mayo settle into his new role. He’s gone for at least 18 points in 4 of his last 5 games and as the Mavs continue to heat up, the sky’s the limit for Mayo’s high upside talent. Aaron Afflalo will likely check him on defense tonight, which is cause for concern, but on a 3-game slate you’ll have to take some risks.
Vince Carter- Carter has seen his minutes affected by Dirk Nowitzki’s return, perhaps more than any other Mavericks player in terms of production. Against Oklahoma City two nights ago though, Carter reminded the league exactly why he used to have a pair of shoes named after him, going for 29 points in 32 minutes. I suspect the Mavericks will continue to limit his minutes due to age, but he’ll likely be found for cheap tonight and makes a great low mid-range play that carries significant upside.
Nikola Vucevic- Vucevic has been one of the league’s pleasant surprises this season, stepping up in the absence of Glen Davis and proving himself to be among the league’s elite rebounders. With Davis back his production has taken a slight hit, but that just means his price tag has come back down to earth.Tonight he draws a matchup with a Mavericks team that has struggled with rebounding and lacks an intimidating interior presence, even with the improved play of Elton Brand.
