Welcome to Five Guys No Burgers And Fries: Daily Fantasy Strategy. In this article we’ll be examining daily fantasy strategy by discussing five players that have an excellent chance of performing well this evening.
Jared Sullinger- The Celtics have been a front court abomination for most of the year, and for a team desperately struggling to develop an interior identity Jared Sullinger has become a much needed breath of fresh air. Sullinger comes into tonight’s contest with averages of 25.2 minutes and 23.65fp on DraftKings scoring over his past 10 games, with a notable uptick in production over his past 4 contests. Boston takes on a makeshift Bobcats front court tonight that ranks dead last in the NBA this season in DEFF against the PF. Sullinger being a reserve only makes the deal sweeter as he should earn garbage time minutes if the game degenerates into a blowout.
Isaiah Thomas- Despite the best efforts of Keith Notsmart to diminish Isaiah Thomas’ unique and dynamic production through bewildering Aaron Brooks infatuation, Thomas appears to finally be rounding into form as the signal caller for Sacramento’s putrid offense. There are reports of locker room near mutinies in response to Thomas being benched, as the players recognize Thomas as the unquestioned soul of the offense, as well as being a firecracker on the defensive end. He’s averaging 28.8 minutes and 25.87fp per DraftKings scoring over his past 10 tilts. Tonight he’ll match up with a tired Cavs squad on a back to back, that was just handed a shellacking by the Lakers last evening. Cleveland also ranks middle of the pack against opposing PGs which means Thomas will encounter little opposition to a big night.
Luol Deng- Luol Deng has been spectacular, albeit a bit inconsistent in his past 7 games since healing up his injured shoulder. He’s touting an average of 35fp on DraftKings scoring in that span. The Bulls have been addressing their biggest problem recently, which is a lack of offensive production that struggles to keep pace when other teams shoot a high percentage from the floor. This has placed the scoring burden squarely on the shoulders of Deng and Carlos Boozer, the latter of whom draws a tough assignment against Josh Smith and the Hawks 9th ranked DEFF against opposing PFs. Throw in Al Horford and Atlanta’s 5th ranked DEFF against Cs, and Joakim Noah may have a tough time tonight as well. Deng should be more than able to pick up the slack though against the Hawks terrible wing defenders who sport the second to last DEFF against SFs.
Al Jefferson- Big Al is as consistent as big men come in the NBA, and he continues to chug along at a torrid pace, hitting 40fp+ on DraftKings scoring in each of his past 3 contests. What’s most enticing for Jefferson though is the matchup at home against a Miami team that has been plagued by rebounding difficulties and ranks 27th in DEFF against opposing Cs in their past 10 games.
DeMarcus Cousins- Since returning from his suspension Cousins has been absolutely destroying the league, averaging a ridiculous 44.7fp on DraftKings scoring. Two of those contests, against Memphis and Miami, were games where Cousins sat the 4th quarter due to a blowout so the numbers could have been even more eye-popping. He squares off against a tired Cleveland squad tonight coming off a back to back, and ranking dead last in the NBA in DEFF against Cs since Anderson Varejao went down. Cousins laid 54fp on Cleveland two weeks ago, and there’s no reason to believe he can’t match that output again.
