Are you new to NHL Daily Fantasy? Each day we will make sure to recap the important factors you need to know for winning NHL daily fantasy. Every site has different scoring systems however most award points for the following categories. Goals, Powerplay Goals, Assists, Powerplay assists, +/- and shots on goal. In future articles we will expand on the scoring system and how to find value in players, and how to become a winning NHL player.
The big story from last night was the Red Wings busting out of their slump. They came in having scored 5 goals total in their 3 previous games, and proceeded to score 5 in this one. Pavel Datsyuk led the way with 1G and 2A and Todd Bertuzzi came off the injured list to score 2 goals. This game just illustrates the unpredictability of sports. Minnesota is a very good defensive team and the Wings were struggling coming in. Nobody saw this coming, but if you had Wings on your team last night, you most likely won your pool.
Vancouver exacted revenge on Anaheim for their opening night thrashing with a 5-0 win in Anaheim. The Sedin twins had a good night, and Zack Kassian had another goal. With Kassian playing on a line beside the twins, he’ll continue to be a good value play. Also as was mentioned previously, go ahead and play Cory Schneider with confidence as he had a solid 30 saves to earn the shutout.
Winnipeg came back from a 2-0 deficit to stun the Penguins. The Pens came out strong, but inexplicably stopped skating, allowing the Jets to mount a comeback. Once the Jets scored they had all the momentum and Pittsburgh couldn’t regain it, as the Jets went on to a 4-2 win. Evander Kane and Dustin Byfuglien were the stars for the Jets as both had 1G and 1A.
The game of the day is an early one as San Jose hosts Colorado. Traditionally San Jose dominates the Avalanche. However, Colorado has been stellar defensively winning there last 2 games by a combined score of 7-1. However, those 2 wins were against a struggling LA team, and an awful Columbus team. I look for the Sharks to continue their winning ways in this one.
For the late games, the best one from a fantasy perspective is Chicago versus Columbus. As I mentioned, Columbus is an awful hockey team. Chicago is rolling. Feel free to load up on Hawks tonight, especially Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, Marian Hossa, and Patrick Sharp. Corey Crawford would be a good goalie play tonight, if he gets the start.
