Picks of the Night
Goran Dragic – $12,665 – The Lakers have been a terrible team on back to backs all season, and fortunately for Dragic, the Lakers played last night in Sacramento. Dragic has been relatively consistent recently, and he’s really the only player on the Suns getting steady minutes. The Lakers rank the 27th worst at defending the PG over the past ten games, making Dragic a solid play tonight.
Paul George – $15,603 – Athletic wing players have burned the Cavs all year and that should be no different for George tonight (some great evidence being Kawhi Leonard’s 24 & 13 performance Saturday night). Normally I only recommend George when he’s at home, but I actually like the fact the game is in Cleveland tonight because it should stay closer for longer. I’m looking for George to fill the stat sheet tonight with ease.
Dwight Howard – $15,963 – If Kobe is out again Dwight will be forced to carry the offensive load. Jermaine O’Neal is simply too old to hang with Howard, not to mention he’s only on the court for so many minutes to begin with. Simply put, the Suns don’t have the size or the strength to deal with Dwight and he should be able to do whatever he wants out there. Every game for the Lakers has playoff implications at this point, so look for Dwight to play with a sense of urgency.
Shaun Livingston – $5,180 – For being known as one of the best defensive teams in the NBA, the Pacers sure struggle defending the PG, especially over the last ten games. They haven’t just been bad against point guards over the past ten, they actually rank dead last. Livingston isn’t going to blow you away with his production, but he is going to provide steady value relative to his price.
Chris Copeland – $6,384 -The injury riddled Knicks will be traveling to Utah to face the Jazz, after a tough loss yesterday in L.A. With no Amar’e, Tyson or Melo, the Knicks are forced to give Copeland minutes. As long as those guys are out you can count on 20 minutes and around 8 shots per game from Copeland. Nothing crazy, but he’s pretty cheap and might get some more run given that the old men on the roster (Marcus Camby & Kurt Thomas) are going to be hurting on the back to back.
Steve Blake – $6,247 – If Kobe is out again Blake should continue to get lots of time on the court playing both PG and SG. He’s had two solid games so far filling in for Kobe, so I’d look for that trend to continue tonight in Phoenix. He’s doing a little bit of everything out there, including scoring, assisting and rebounding, which is a great asset in daily fantasy.
