In today’s Golf Daily Fantasy Recap, the Abu Dhabi Championship has come to an end and we look more into the Humana Challenge.
The Abu Dhabi Championship has finished and the result, Jamie Donaldson storms past Justin Rose for the win. Donaldson ended at -14, with a final round 68 to cap off the victory. This win builds on Donaldson’s T-7 performance in the PGA Championship last year. Donaldson is definitely a name that needs to be on our radar for Majors this year. I am not saying he will win one, but I definitely believe he will perform well. I hate that Justin Rose finished T-2 after such a strong showing all week, but this reaffirms the “fantasy” faith I have in him. Hopefully Tiger and Rory can shake off humiliating starts (get that commercial out of their heads) and perform at the level they are capable of. With the Master’s looming in the near future, and The Farmers Insurance Open (Torrey Pines), Tiger will have his chance to get his game on track for the 2013 season.
I hate to say that I am looking ahead to the Farmers, but as a fantasy golfer that is the number one most important aspect of strategy I can give you. Fantasy golfers have to examine past course history, present level of play, and tournament field each week to be successful. By researching all of these aspects you can develop winning line-ups week in and week out (that’s what I’m here for.)
Now on to the present tournament, the Humana Challenge. The Humana has shaped up exactly like I thought it would, a birdie fest. These guys are shooting low, I mean real low. The present leader is Scott Stallings at -22, followed up by a field full of -10 or lower. My fantasy performance this week has been up and down (remember I told you, full transparency here at Daily Fantasy Radio.) During the first round I was a little shaken, but after round 2 my confidence began to build. Let’s take a look at how the Daily Fantasy Radio picks have done. Remember it doesn’t necessarily matter if a golfer wins, what matters is if they make the cut and put themselves in contention to win.
Each week I give you five guys that have the potential for a great performance and even a win. Those guys this week were Mickleson (-11), Snedeker (-14), Senden (-10), Kuchar (-13), and Simpson (MC -8) (I also gave you Tim Clark (MC -9) as an honorable mention.) That means that this week I am 4-2 (including honorable mention) against the cut line. I also gave you “value” picks that I thought would perform well; these were Perez (MC -9), Ames (-13), McGirt (-12), Haas (MC -7), English (-13), Gay (-16), Marino (MC -9), Teater (MC -8), and De Jonge (-12). That puts me at 5-4 against the cut with Gay in contention.
On a week where the first 3 rounds were “fun with amateurs” I will take those results. I think today will prove a lot harder for golfers and it will be interesting to see where these guys end up.
