Where to Play:
DraftKings is running a daily freeroll to go along with their GPPs, HUs and 50/50 games. For more daily fantasy hockey games, DraftDay and FanThrowdown have a good variety of GPPs, HU and 50/50 matches.
Claude Giroux- Disclaimer: I picked Giroux last time and he came through; with just four games on the slate today, he’s easily the best forward, and I suggest you fit him in your roster if you can. I didn’t want to make him one of my three picks since we took him last time. Also, Jakub Voracek is the hottest player in the NHL right now, so I’d try to fit him in too, unless you want to fade the public, as he will probably be at least 40% owned today.
Alex Ovechkin (WAS – LW) – If this were 2011, Ovechkin would be up there in the disclaimer, but after two subpar years (for his standards), “The Great 8″ has his work cut out for him to get back that elite status. He’s looked more like the Alex of old lately, and the Flyers simply present the softest matchup on the board today. ($8.8k DraftKings, $15.9k DraftDay, $9k FanThrowdown)
Anze Kopitar (LAK – C) – The Kings offense is starting to click, as they’ve scored at least three goals in their last four outings, the most recent one coming against a good goalie in Viktor Fasth. Now they have a revenge matchup at home with a Red Wings team that is starting Jimmy Howard, who simply has not played all that well this year and has very unimpressive career numbers versus the Kings. I’m looking for the Kings’ momentum to continue as they gain their swagger back following their Stanley Cup hangover. ($6.8k DraftKings, $10.9k DraftDay, $6.2k FanThrowdown)
Patric Hornqvist (NSH – RW) – I wanted to put Corey Perry here because he’s on fire, so you should consider him, but I wanted to give you someone more budget-friendly, and Hornqvist fits the bill. Since returning from injury, Patric has regained his spot on the top line: he’s skating well, taking a lot of shots on goal, and is playing on the top power-play unit. Nashville has been scoring a bit more lately and Anaheim is not scaring anyone defensively, especially now that we’ve seen that Viktor Fasth is human. I like him more if Hiller is in goal, but either way, he’s a fine pick with good upside and a nice price. ($4.6k DraftKings, $10.2k DraftDay, $6.6k FanThrowdown)
Jason Chimera (WAS LW) – Chimera is skating on the top line with Ovechkin and has yet to score a goal despite potting 20 last year. In the last two games, he’s taken 10 SOG, so maybe he’s feeling some motivation to do so. ($3.9k DraftKings, $5.9k DraftDay, $4.2kFanThrowdown)
Cody Franson (TOR D) – Franson has been my favorite cheap D-man of late for a number of reasons, the biggest one being that he is on Toronto’s top power-play. He’s also seeing a lot of ice-time, and the Leafs offense has been quite good this year. ($2k DraftKings, $3.65k DraftDay, $4.2k FanThrowdown)
Trevor Lewis (LAK C) – The Kings just shipped Simon Gagne out of town because they like what they see in Lewis, who has two goals and two assists in his last four games. He’s skating with Mike Richards and Jeff Carter, two very talented forwards, and he’s also getting more ice-time as well as on the power-play. ($2.6k DraftKings, $6.4k DraftDay, $3.7k FanThrowdown)
