Where did all the stars go? Last night was Revenge of the Scrubs in Daily Fantasy Hockey!
Where to play:
The more I play on Fan Throwdown, the more I like it. It has a clean and easy to use interface, with a large variety of games. They will also be adding free rolls once they update their servers.
Draft Day also has a good variety of games. One of the unique games they have is a target game, where all you need to do is hit the target score to split the prize. They have a good variety of 50/50 and HU games as well.
Draft Kings rolls out a daily free roll, the key word being FREE. They also provide lots of double up, HU and GPP games nightly.
Fantazzle only has a few hockey games now, but will be adding more soon.
As you all know, yesterday was a weird night in the NHL. I’m not going to recap everything as I’m sure you already know what happened, but let’s take a look at how we did on our picks.
Thomas Fleischmann (FLA) - Fleischmann scored a goal on his only shot of the game which was good for 3.4 FP.
Teddy Purcell (TB) - Purcell picked up an assist on Tampa’s only goal and also provided 1 SOG for 2.4 FP.
Claude Giroux (PHI) - Surprisingly he did nothing offensively, but did provide 2 blocked shots that were good for 1 FP if you were playing on a site that scores them (such as Draft Kings).
Today we only have three games to choose from so we must pick wisely…
Teemu Selanne (RW-ANA) - Selanne is the leading scorer on a streaking Ducks team that has won three in a row. After taking down the Sharks, look for them to keep it going in Colorado. Selanne didn’t pick up any points in the 2-1 win over San Jose, but I expect Anaheim to score a few tonight. The last time Selanne was held scoreless, he tallied three assists in the following game ($4.8k DraftKings, $7.7k Fanthrowdown, $9.35k Draftday, $6.7k Fanduel).
Andrei Markov (D-MTL) - It’s not often that a defenseman will make this list, but with today being very light on games he makes a good play. Markov leads the Canadiens in points and is great on the powerplay. The powerplay will be a key in this game, as most Montreal-Boston matchups are close games that are decided by special teams. In 55 games against Boston, Markov has put up 33 points and I expect him to continue that tonight ($3.1k DraftKings, $6.3k Fanthrowdown, $6.65k Draftday, $5.7k Fanduel).
Taylor Hall (LW-EDM) - Hall is simply a dynamic player. He faces a subpar Dallas team tonight, on the road, despite their win at Colorado the last time out. Edmonton is a great skating team and the ice at Edmonton is perhaps the best in the NHL, which really suits their style of play. I don’t think that Dallas will be able to keep up with the young guns of the Oilers tonight ($6.9k DraftKings, $5.1k Fanthrowdown, $12.75k Draftday, $7.9k Fanduel).
Sam Gagner (C-EDM) - With all the young stars on Edmonton, Gagner leads the team in points with ten. He has gotten a point in every game this year, and we love consistency in DFS. He isn’t the cheapest play on any site, but is often overlooked because of all the star power around him ($4.5k Draftkings, $5k Fanthrowdown, $8.95k Draftday, $6k Fanduel).
Alex Galchenyuk (C-MTL) - This rookie is playing great, and is currently third on the team with seven points (one behind leaders Andrei Markov and Ralphael Diaz). He is also a +5 on the year (key for sites like Fanduel) with 14 SOG ($2.5k Draftkings, $4.2k Fanthrowdown, $3k Draftday, $3.6k Fanduel).
Ryan White (C-MTL) - White has only one point on the year, so why is he on this list? Well he has 42 PIM, and Montreal–Boston matchups are usually tough games with lots of penalties and a few fights thrown in. White is not afraid to drop the gloves, and he might even drop them a couple of times tonight ($2.4k Draftkings, $5k Fanthrowdown, $3k Draftday, $4k Fanduel). UPDATE 12:50PM – White is a scratch for tonight. Roll with Nail Yakupov of Edmonton instead- the usual applies until his price increases. ($2.4k Draftkings, $4.7k Fanthrowdown, $7.6k Draftday, $4.1k Fanduel)
