Washington got their first win of the season as Alex Ovechkin also scored his first goal of the year. Buffalo was without Thomas Vanek, and it showed as they really struggled. I’m not buying the Caps though, they are still an overall bad team. Only Ovechkin and defenceman Mike Green are worth a look on most nights.
Tampa steamrolled Philly by 5-1 margin. Martin St. Louis led the way with 4 assists and Steven Stamkos added 1 goal and 1 assist. Tampa will continue to score, and will also give up lots of goals most nights. They are always a good play for DFS.
Minnesota and St. Louis played in a surprisingly high scoring game as both teams normally pride themselves on solid defense. Zach Parise had 2 goals and 1asisst for Minnesota, while St. Louis got 1 goal and 1 assist from both Alex Pietrangelo and Kevin Shattenkirk.
San Jose continues to roll. I personally avoided this game as the Sharks were on the trail end of a back-to-back, and going against a very good Vancouver team. The Sharks made a statement in this one and that statement was that they are for real. Feel free to roll with them in every game going forward, matchup be damned.
Looking ahead to tonight’s games, there are 2 matchups that I really like. The first is Dallas against Columbus. The Blue Jackets are just a bad team. They are the NHL version of the Charlotte Bobcats. Dallas should roll in this one.
The other game I really like is Colorado at Edmonton. It should be a wide open affair with lots of goals for both teams. Definitely want to avoid the goalies in this one.
Here are three players I believe will have stellar outings this evening.
Goalie- Kari Lehtonen
Defenceman- Justin Schultz
Forward- Jordan Eberle.
