Last night presented a slew of games, and I will focus on a few of them here. Let’s start off with Toronto going into Buffalo and beating the Sabres 4-3. Leafs forward Matt Frattin scored the winning goal with one second left in overtime. Keep an eye on Frattin- he has a ton of talent and if he gets the ice time, he should produce good fantasy numbers at a reasonable price. However, the big story in this game was the play of Buffalo’s goalie, Ryan Miller. He gave up 4 goals and put up negative points in DFS, hurting a lot of people as they expected Buffalo to roll tonight. One thing to keep an eye on going forward is that Toronto plays much better on the road than they do at home.
Next, the Islanders went into Pittsburgh and humiliated the Penguins by a score of 4-1. Matt Moulson led the way with 1G and 1A, both coming on the power play. Then Pens are really struggling right now; personally, I am avoiding Penguin goalie Marc-Andre Fleury. I just feel he is one of the most overrated goalies in the game right now and not worth the high price.
Last but not least, Montreal and Winnipeg played an exciting game, with Montreal winning 4-3. From a DFS perspective, all of the stars were on Montreal. Andrei Markov and Raphael Diaz each had a pair of assists with both of them coming on the power play. In fact, all of Andrei Markov’s points this year have come on the power play. Alex Galchenyuk added a pair of assists and Brendan Gallagher had 1G and 1A. Montreal has scored at least four goals in four straight games.
Looking ahead to tonight, we have a light schedule with only four games on tap. However, all the games should be good ones. Montreal and Ottawa play in a big rivalry game, with both of them on the back end of a back-to-back. Expect some goals to be scored in this one.
Chicago goes into Minnesota to take on the Wild, who barely beat Columbus last night- I am expecting the Hawks to roll.
Edmonton and Phoenix should also be a high scoring game, and I love Vancouver tonight at home against Colorado, an 0-3 team on the road.
Picks of the Night:
G- Corey Crawford (16,050 on DD, 8400 FTD)
D- Justin Schultz (8,450 on DD, 8,200 FTD)
F- Marian Hossa (13,550 on DD, 7,900 FT)
