Where to Play:
Yesterday’s Top Picks:
Rick Nash and the Rangers had what looked like a good matchup, but found it to be tough sledding as Buffalo’s backup goalie stood on his head. Nash still managed 6 SOG and 1 BS for 2.3 FP. (DraftKings scoring)
Martin St. Louis was one of the highest scoring forwards, playing a factor in all three Lightning goals. He continued his point streak with 1G, 2A, 1SOG, and 1BS for a monster 7.8FP. (DraftKings scoring)
Phil Kessel was the entire Leafs offense last night, scoring two goals to go along with 3 SOG and 2 PIM for a huge 7.1 FP (DraftKings scoring)– Shrek (as I like to call him) is officially on fire, so don’t hesitate to plug him in while he’s on a tear.
Today’s Top Daily Fantasy Hockey Picks:
Ilya Kovalchuk (NJD-LW) – Kovy has been a little bit more aggressive of late and has the juiciest matchup on this short slate day. The Flyers just aren’t a very good defensive team, and Kovalchuk is arguably the most talented sniper skating today. ($7.8k DraftKings, $13.35k DraftDay, $8.3k FanThrowdown)
Jarome Iginla (CGY-RW) – Granted, this pick might be bucking conventional wisdom. With the way Calgary has played defense of late, I should be recommending Datsyuk and Zetterberg and not any Flames who will likely be facing one of the hottest goalies of the NHL in Jimmy Howard. But on a short slate like this, sometimes you have to zig when they zag, and Iginla is a world-class talent who has been much better on home ice. He had really turned it on before the Flames got extinguished on their little road trip to California, and the Red Wings have struggled defensively on the road earlier this season, a tendency that could rear its ugly head again. ($6.2k DraftKings, $10.9k DraftDay, $9.5k FanThrowdown)
Tomas Plekanec (MON-C) – I’m going to squeeze two picks in here, because I like you, and because I want to reward the people who actually read the text, so you should take Claude Giroux too, simply because he’s very good and the Devils have been leaky defensively. However, you should also take Plekanec, because the Canadiens have been on fire, and they score even more at home. Ottawa has been playing well defensively, but Plekanec has been tearing it up lately along with linemates Michael Ryder and Brian Gionta. ($5.4k DraftKings, $11.75k DraftDay, $6.1k FanThrowdown)
Guillaume Latendresse (OTT-LW) I’m choosing my sleepers based solely on how hard it is to spell their names… okay, but seriously, this guy is good. He just returned from injury and scored a goal in his first game back, against Boston no less. Carey Price and the Habs haven’t been so stellar defensively of late either. He’s cheap, playing on the top line and top power-play, and I’m not sure you can find a better value play out there with just three games. ($3.9k DraftKings, $6.25k DraftDay, $2.3k FanThrowdown)
Damien Brunner (DET-C) – He still leads the Wings in goals while playing with Zetterberg and Franzen. He’s been picking up a few points lately and presents considerable upside for a discount. The Flames are not winning any games based on defense either. ($4.5k DraftKings, 6.8k Draftday, 6.1k Fanthrowdown)
Mikael Backlund (CGY-C) – As if you needed another center, right? Well I wanted to give you a super deep sleeper since it is such a short slate today and so many teams will have the same guys on it. Backlund just returned from injury as well, but he was off to a nice start to the season before going down. He scored a really nifty goal on Monday versus the Kings with the clock ticking down and the Flames trying to avoid a shutout while down two goals. He also saw some ice time between Iginla and Tanguay, not to mention some power-play time as well. ($3.1k DraftKings, $4.4k DraftDay, $3.7k FanThrowdown)
