Last week’s Daytona 500 ended with Jimmie Johnson as the victor. The guys lucky enough to stay out of wrecks performed well and finished the race in good positions, helping our daily fantasy racing lineups cash along the way.
Last Week’s Daily Fantasy Racing Picks:
Denny Hamlin finished 3rd last week and really lucked into that position. His criticism of the Gen 6 car got him fined and may put a damper on his week in Las Vegas.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. posted his 2nd top 5 of the year finishing 5th at Phoenix. He put himself into a position to win again and looked impressive throughout the race.
Jimmie Johnson finished 2nd and put together a strong performance to go 1 and 2 in both 2013 races this year.
Kyle Busch posted a 23rd finish and had to rely on the “Lucky Dog” to get him back on the lead lap. Toyota and Busch have under performed so far in the early 2013 season.
Kurt Busch was a long shot this week, but impressed during the middle of the race. Ultimately, his 27th finish was our only pick outside of the top 25.
This week we get the Kobalt Tools 400. The Kobalt Tools 400 runs at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway in Las Vegas, NV. Las Vegas Motor Speedway is own by Speedway Racing, a company out of Charlotte, NC and is built like an eastern speedway. The track is 1.5 miles and opened for NASCAR in 1998, with Mark Martin subsequently winning the first ever Las Vegas Race. Due to rain NASCAR canceled qualifying and will decide the pole by last years points order.

This Week’s Daily Fantasy Racing Picks:
Tony Stewart won this race last year. He has consistently performed well at Las Vegas and should again this week. He has finished in the top 5 the last 3 years at the track. His team, car, and attitude has been very impressive this year; which could carry over into a victory this week.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. put himself in a position to win the Subway last week, but came up just a little short. His 5th place finish proved my earlier point, that when the car is good Dale is good. Jr. seems to really like the handling of the Gen 6 car and he has proved he can drive it exceptionally well. I look for another top 10 this week.
Jimmie Johnson has 4 wins at Las Vegas and impressed again last week. He has been fantasy racing gold so far in 2013, posting a 1 and 2 in back to back weeks. He has been driving lights out and should be used in every fantasy format.
Brad Keselowski will take the pole at Las Vegas this week due to a technicality. However, Keselowski doesn’t need a technicality to prove that he can race. The Blue Deuce set the qualifying record here in the Nationwide series in 2010 and should lead a lot of laps Sunday. His 4th place finish last week should help him post a top 10 this week.
Carl Edwards won his first race since 2011 last week. Ironically, he drove the Subway car to a win at the Subway Fresh Fit 500. He looked like the Carl Edwards of old and if his team performs like they did last week he is also looking at a top 10 finish this week.
