Last Week’s Whole in One Picks:
Tiger Woods failed to make it out of the first round and was eliminated by 16th seed, Charles Howell III.
Ian Poulter made it to the semi-finals before losing to Hunter Mahan. Poulter then lost the consolation round to Jason Day, finishing in 4th.
Keegan Bradley also suffered a first round defeat at the hands of 13th seed, Marcus Fraser.
Rory McIlroy failed to make it out of the first round and was eliminated by the 16th seed in his bracket, Shane Lowry. Lowry continued to play well and progressed another round.
Justin Rose pushed forward into round two but was defeated by 10th seed Nicolas Colsaerts.
This week players arrive at Palm Beach Gardens, FL to tackle the PGA National Champion Course. Playing at 7,110 yards and a Par 70, this cerebral course is designed to make players think and requires multiple facets of the game in which players need to excel in order to compete for a win. Last year’s winner, Rory McIlroy, played lights out and finished at -12. He scored on the Par 3 holes and held the Par 5 ones at bay to defeat Tiger Woods by two strokes. The field is stacked again this year and features the finest professionals that golf has to offer.

This Week’s Whole in One Picks:
Tiger Woods’ finish at the WGC Accenture Matchplay was characteristic of his performance at Dove Mountain over the past four years. This does not effect his ability to dominate the Honda Classic, however. Woods posted a 10-under par last year to take a share of 2nd place (in his debut). He made the cut at six of the last six courses with similar lengths in 2012. He has been streaky in the past two years, but with the advanced playing field in this match he should be motivated to perform.
Charles Schwartzel performed equally uncharacteristic at Dove Mountain last week. He posted a 7 under 5th last year at the Honda Classic and was a top 20 finisher the year before. He has consistently placed in the top 10 over the last year and found himself a winner at the Alfred Dunhill Championship last year.
Keegan Bradley has been in the Classic the past two years. In 2011, he missed the cut and finished at a disappointing 77th place. His top-15 finish last year, due in large part to an exceptionally well-played final round, should pay dividends toward his success this year. He can be the most consistent player on the tour, and hopefully that version of Keegan will be playing this week.
Justin Rose has performed well during the 2013 season and has made the top 20 in his last two stroke-play tournaments. He was top 5 in 2012 and in 2010 at the Honda and has only missed one cut during his time at the tournament.
Honorable Mention: Louis Oosthuizen has already posted a win this year at the Volvo Golf Champions. He’s made the cut at the previous two Honda Classics but withdrew nine holes in last year due to illness. This year he is cold-free and should perform exceptionally well in the tournament.
